Morgan Stanley Energy Partners (“MSEP”) is the Firm’s primary business for investing in energy private equity transactions. MSEP has a dedicated team of highly experienced investment professionals located in New York and Houston and seeks the most attractive middle market investment opportunities in the upstream, midstream, and services & equipment subsectors of the energy industry. Our investment team brings significant expertise in structuring complex financial transactions and a commitment to partnering with world-class management teams. Our transactions are often characterized by an initial buyout in partnership with management that establishes a strategic platform for the deployment of additional capital through follow-on investments that fund organic growth and M&A activity. The MSEP investment team focuses on investments in North America, typically investing $50 million to $250 million of equity capital per transaction. Investments include leveraged buyouts for control, corporate carve-outs, growth equity investments, and recapitalizations.

Role Description:  The MSEP team in New York is looking for a Summer Analyst to support the group in several areas, including:



  • Conduct research on companies and focus industries
  • Review and analyze financial information pertaining to companies
  • Participate in weekly team meetings
  • Other ad hoc projects as needed



  • Current Freshman or Sophomore in a 4 year bachelor’s degree program with superior academic performance
  • Interest in financial services industry and the energy sector
  • Prior experience in Financial Services and/or Private Equity field (investment banking) is a plus
  • Experience with financial modeling preferred
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and interact well with others
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and a team player
  • Superior level of attention to detail
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
