    The Bureau of Consular Affairs, Colorado Passport Agency (CA/PPT/CO) serves U.S. citizens intending international travel through passport issuance, while protecting the integrity of the U.S. passport as proof of U.S. citizenship at home and around the world.

    This is a Year-Round position and you must work at least 24 hours per week between the hours of 6:45 am – 4:15 pm am MST. 

    As a Student Trainee (Passport), you will:

    • Perform recurring assignments such as examining applications and supporting documents for acceptability as proof of citizenship and identity.
    • Evaluate evidence for sufficiency, credibility, authenticity and consistency of facts.
    • Question applicants and available witnesses to verify applicant statements and corroborating information. 
    • Refer questionable situations to more senior staff for guidance. 
    • Apply knowledge of procedures and processes employed by headquarters and passport offices in the issuance of passport. 
    • Interpret and explain the requirements for obtaining a passport in order to advise applicants on the sources and types of documentation needed to establish proof of citizenship, residence and identity.
    • Perform independent fact-finding and problem solving on routine or recurring types of cases. 
    • Analyze factual information contained in applications and other documentary evidence.
    • Other related duties as assigned.
