    Responsibilities

    The incumbent provides administrative support for Patient Services that consists of approximately 450 FTE with an Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Step Down Unit, Cardiac Catheter Lab, Operating Room (Same Day Surgery, PACU), Specialty Clinics, Community Living Center, Medicine, Surgical Unit), Social Work, Nutrition & Food, Supply Processing Service, Ward Administration and
    Chaplain Service. This position supports other clerical functions as needed. In this capacity, this position performs the following duties;

    -Prepare a variety of reports, hospital policies, reviews outgoing correspondence for proper
    attachments, and consolidates/coordinates submittals of information.

    -Order supplies and file documents.

    -Read and respond to emails daily keeping mailbox clean.

    -Arrange meetings/conferences, including such matters as location, appropriate participants. etc.

    -Organize, maintain and retrieve files and records, manuals, handbooks and other related
    material.

    Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

    Work Schedule: This position is part-time, 20 hours per pay period. Work hours will be coordinated with class schedule.

    Internship Program: To be eligible, applicants must be accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis as defined by the institution in which you are enrolled.

    You may qualify based on education and/or experience as described below:

    To qualify for the GS-4 student trainee position: Applicant must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

    AND

    Generalized Experience: Applicants must have One year of generalized experience. Examples of
    generalized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: progressively responsible
    clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to perform the duties of the position to
    be filled.

    OR

    Applicant may substitute a 2 academic years of post-high school study or associate’s degree for the
    experience required.

    OR

    Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-4 level.

    To qualify for the GS-5 student trainee position: Applicant must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

    AND

    Have successfully completed at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level. Specialized experience includes providing assistance of a technical, specialized, or supportive nature to administrative personnel; performing data analysis; working closely with upper level executive managers and meeting with key decision makers of an organization; project
    development, design, and management; tracking agenda items and attending meetings; and, developing recommendations and problem solving. (Experience can be applicable to school work, i.e., projects, presentations, etc.)

    OR

    Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study or bachelor’s degree.

    OR

    Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-05 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-05. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for

    Preferred Experience: Intermediate skills in Excel spreadsheets.

    Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there is some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, files, etc. It further requires the ability to satisfactorily tolerate an office
    environment often times made stressful by multiple telephone calls, visitors and other interruptions. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
