Reliability engineering position in the Technology Reliability and Quality Group in a fabless company. The candidate should have a strong background in physics and electrical engineering, and/or materials science and engineering, with good understanding of CMOS process and characterization, especially in the area of metallization. Knowledge of reliability issues such as electromigration (EM), dielectric breakdown (TDDB), stress migration (SM) and thermal-mechanical interactions is highly desirable. Background in applied statistics is a plus. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that IBM’s server chips are reliable from a micro-electronics point of view. This position requires working in a strongly-coupled team environment, and driving interactions with other teams including product stress, failure analysis, product performance and research organizations, and closely interlock with foundries. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and a drive for technical excellence. Good communication skills and team-oriented attitude are essential.

Pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Enginnering, or Materials Science.



Knowledge of reliability issues such as electromigration (EM), dielectric breakdown (TDDB), stress migration (SM) and thermal-mechanical interactions. Knowledge of the CMOS process flow and processing experience. Electrical test lab experience. Good understanding of statitics and experimental design
