There are 2 vacancy one is located in Birmingham and 1 is located at Huntsville CBOC.The Selectee is considered to be performing at an entry level, and will service in a training capacity, learning the appropriated rules/regulations used in conducting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) business In Audiology service.
Responsibilities
Note: Salary will be determined based on location. You must be willing to relocate.
Appointment is Temorpoary not exceed one year. However this positon is eligible for non-competitive conversion to permanent employment upon completion.
This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program. The program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school. The Internship provides managers a ready source of student employees and potential permanent employees upon completion of the program requirements. It also provides the student with work experience directly related to the curriculum studies or career goals while offering eligibility for non-competitive conversion to permanent employment upon completion. Duties include but may not be limited to the following:- Assists the staff of the service in establishing and maintaining audiology patient clinic files in an accurate and timely manner.
- Unpacks new hearing aids, filing them in the patient charts
- Under close supervision they also enter information into the ROES (Remotes Order/Entry System) functions and routinely enters information regarding hearing aid repairs
- Schedules audiology consults and hearing aid appointments
- Performing scheduling of appointments, including return to clinic (RTC) orders in CPRS/GUI and follows national scheduling guidelines.
- Captures insurance information (ICB),
- Processes travel payments
- Makes reminder phone appointment phone calls.
- Schedules audiology and speech inpatient and outpatient consults. notifies
- Monitors audiology clinic schedules and when he sees open appointment slots, he telephones hearing aid patients to schedule into these slots.
- Serves as the primary individual answering all telephone calls for the entire service.
- When necessary the incumbent will prints beneficiary travel forms for patients. Picks up in-house office and other supplies as requested.
- performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor to insure the smooth operation of the Audiology Section.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30-4:30 Monday-Friday ( Schdule is Flexible based on school Schedule)
