    This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program within the Energy Information Administration (EIA). This Internship Program provides students who are enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a wide variety of qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work and explore career paths related to their academic fields of study or career interests.

    For a Management and Program Analysis Student Trainee duties may include:

    • As an Management and Program Analyst Student Trainee, you will perform a wide variety of clerical duties associated with office work. Your assignments are designed to encourage professional growth and development, to develop an understanding of agency issues relating to international trade, and to experience a variety of international trade work. You will perform short-and medium-term projects under the direction of higher-graded specialist.  Assignments become more responsible as incumbent increases knowledge and skills through work experience and academic training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to provide general administrative services, automation, and office support. This assistance may include preparation and review of correspondence, records and file functions, meeting and greeting of visitors, preparation of background material for use in reports or meetings, maintenance of tracking reports, preparation of specialized documents, such as spread sheets and power point presentations, and other assorted administrative work that contributes to the efficient flow of business operations. Compile and update information in a database to be used by Staff for tracking purposes

    This position is NTE 30 September 2020 internship, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a term or permanent position; however, conversion or extension is not mandatory or guaranteed. Internships may be extended through the school year based on workload requirements and budget availability. This appointment does not confer permanent federal status. You may be eligible for conversion to a term or permanent position in the competitive service after successful completion, provided you satisfy the program requirements, and work and funding is available.

    GS 3

    • Perform clerical support for office personnel
    • Maintain office files for personnel
    • Prepare letters, reports, presentations, and memorandums for office personnel
    • Ensure accuracy of information collected

    GS 4

    • Maintain administrative files in alphabetical and numerical filing systems.
    • Type correspondence, reports, labels, and forms.
    • Compile data and various reports to document administrative matters and issues

    GS 5

    • Prepare input for evaluations of impacts of new technologies, systems and policies.
    • Compile, organize and write data while also identifies likely significant variables and underlying relationship.
    • Perform initial segment of analyses projects using and applying standard techniques and theories of the profession.

    GS 7

    • Analyze portions of current or projected program operations to evaluate effectiveness in meeting established goals and objectives;
    • Develop and coordinate a variety of reports, staff actions, correspondence, and other related actions;
    • Research and interpret legal and regulatory material;
    • Collect data from a variety of reference sources and prepare reports to present patterns and trends in program activities.
