      The Office of Energy Market Regulation (OEMR) is looking for dynamic candidates to join its team at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). We want motivated and passionate individuals who want to serve the public interest, working on regulatory and competitive market issues for the electric, natural gas pipeline, and oil pipeline industries. FERC's mission is to ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy services for consumers. Using regulatory and market approaches, we work to make sure that consumers pay just and reasonable rates for their energy needs and to promote safe, reliable, secure, and efficient energy infrastructure.  

    At time of application, applicant must submit proof of current enrollment in a degree-seeking program. If selected, applicant must provide proof of continuing education through either the Summer or Fall 2020 semesters. To meet the definition of a student, applicants must be enrolled at least half-time in a degree-seeking program. 

    These positions are temporary, they may be converted to a full time, career-conditional position. Any conversions to full time  or career-conditional status is neither implied nor guaranteed.

    • Assists professional staff members in performing analyses of moderately complex regulatory issues associated with filings for the purpose of identifying trends, problems, or deviations from pertinent regulatory requirements or Commission policies.
    • Assists professional staff members in developing recommendations to resolve issues for use by the team leader or supervisor.
    • Analyzes and reviews a variety of conventional regulatory data and documents associated with the regulation of electric utilities and/or natural gas/oil pipeline companies.
    • Assists professional staff members in preparing Commission memoranda, notices, proposed orders, or other documents for cases that require consideration of issues common to the regulated industry or which are traditional or non-controversial.
