    The Bureau of Consular Affairs, Miami Passport Agency (CA/PPT/MM) serves U.S. citizens intending international travel through passport issuance, while protecting the integrity of the U.S. passport as proof of U.S. citizenship at home and around the world.

       As a Student Trainee (Passport), GS-07 you will:

    • Performs recurring assignments such as examining applications and supporting documents for acceptability as proof of citizenship and identity; and for official and diplomatic passports, as appropriate authorization, entitlement, and information.

    • Evaluates evidence for sufficiency, credibility, authenticity, and consistency of facts. Questions applicants and available witnesses to verify applicant statements and corroborating information.

    •  Refers questionable situations to more senior staff for guidance.
    • Applies knowledge of the procedures, and processes employed by headquarters and passport offices in the issuance of passport; and skill in interpreting and explaining the requirements for obtaining a passport, in order to advise applicants on the sources and types of documentation needed to establish proof of citizenship, residence, and identity.
    • Performs independent fact-finding and problem solving on routine or recurring types of cases; analyzes factual information contained in applications and other documentary evidence.

    • Refers to the supervisor or higher-graded specialists to determine additional requirements for specific situations; develops additional information or evidence where available; and reaches timely and correct conclusions. The trainee expresses decisions or recommendations clearly and concisely in written and oral form.

    • The incumbent does not exercise discretion and independent judgement with respect to Passport matters of significance.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.
