    Responsibilities

    The USGS Office of Human Resources (Benefits) is seeking associate and undergraduate level student working towards a degree in Business Management or Human Resources to gain practical experience in Human Resources.    

    As a Student Trainee (Human Resources) you will serve in a trainee capacity, performing routine and recurring development assignments to acquire knowledge and understanding of functions, principles, practices, and methods used in the area of  benefits.

    Duties include:

    --Assisting in the research and review of retirement and benefit cases;

    --Reviewing benefit coding and processing personnel actions;

    --Assisting with the review and tracking of performance appraisals;

    --Applying an extensive body of HR rules, regulations, procedures, and operations concerning employee benefits;

    --Explaining benefits options available to employees based upon analysis of individual circumstances.
