    This vacancy is for a Student Trainee (Social Science) position in the Center for Enterprise Disseminationlocated at the U.S. Census Bureau.

    The individual selected for this position will:

    • Performs social science related studies and assignments as a full performance level student trainee employee. The incumbent is responsible for the review, submission, and coordination of materials related to researcher Special Sworn Status. Documentation of all phases of research proposal development and review. Coordinate project management activities with Census Bureau staff at remote FSRDCs and at Suitland HQ.
    • Performs a variety of specialized work in support of the office’s planning, design, and research operations programs. Analyzes the impact of assignments and projects related to the operation of secure Federal Statistical Research Data Centers. Completes actions in support of project management, security, and program operations. Applies knowledge of statistical theory and analysis to development of research proposals and researcher analytic support. Prepares preliminary and summary reports. Typical assignments will include: performing literature searches; analyzing data from published sources in the Office; coordinating with Census Bureau Directorates, Federal and state resources agencies, and other Federal, state, and local agencies and the public to discuss any ongoing studies or information; developing scopes of work and continuing coordination for those portions of studies accomplished by the Office; determining if additional studies are required because of information gaps, and recommending study techniques; coordinating with study managers and other in-house personnel as studies progress; preparing scopes of work and schedules when contracting with consultants.
    • Maintain responsibility for security for FSRDC facility. Ensure FSRDC researcher compliance with rules and regulations. Identify areas in need of improvement, propose solutions to senior staff, assist with implementation of improvements.
    • Participates in the development of research proposals, sharing expertise on research methods, available data, and technical requirements.
    • Reviews statistical output for compliance with agency disclosure requirements.
    • Interacting daily with stakeholders about multi-phased research projects involving large survey and administrative datasets.
    • Organizing multiple types of documentation and administrative processes pertaining to researchers located throughout the country.
    • Facilitating research intended to answer complex economic and social questions.
    • Assisting the development of research proposals.
    • Reviewing model-based output to ensure compliance with disclosure standards.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
