The Dietetic Student, in Nutrition and Food Services is a temporary, part-time position designed to provide experience in food service and nutritional care for a student currently enrolled in a qualifying educational institution on at least half- time basis.Responsibilities
This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program. The program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school. The Internship provides managers a ready source of student employees and potential permanent employees upon completion of the program requirements. It also provides the student with work experience directly related to the curriculum studies or career goals while offering eligibility for non-competitive conversion to permanent employment upon completion. Food Service:- Sets up and replenishes dining room serving line or trayline with glassware, silverware, dishware, napkins, condiments and cold menu items, such as salads, desserts, bread, cereal and beverages.
- Works on trayline as assembler or loader.
- Prepares and delivers nourishments. Assembles sandwiches and bag meals. Portions and plates salads and desserts.
Food /Tray Delivery:- Transports tray delivery carts to the wards. Passes and collects patient trays/meals according to procedure. Delivers nourishments.
- Cleans dining room or trayline stations after each serving period.
- Transfers soiled dishes, pans and serving utensils from dining room and serving areas to dishwashing and pot cleaning areas.
- Transports, unloads and rotates stock as directed.
Administrative:- Visits patients and gathers food preferences; codes traytickets; communicates patient information to dietitians.
- Conducts Patient Satisfaction Surveys with patients and collates results.
- Assists with food product testing and evaluation.
- Conducts nutritional analysis of menus. Codes computer data for ingredients, recipes and menus.
- Works in Diet Office to process diet orders and traytickets.
Work Schedule: Part time; 15 hours per week (30 hours per pay period)
Tour of Duty: Sunday through Saturday shifts; work 5 days (3 hour shifts) with 2 days offTravel Required
