    Summary

    The USPS OIG is seeking students enrolled in college programs to fill our Student Cooperative positions in RDM's Delivery, Retail Operations & Vehicle Operations Directorate and Delivery & Retail Response Team. These directorates provide value to the USPS by auditing and reviewing:

    • Data Collection & Reporting Systems.
    • Customer Relations.
    • Product Innovation.
    • Customer Service Support.
    • Retail Operations & Mailpiece Scanning.
    • Mail Delivery.
    • Vehicle Procurement & Maintenance.

    Responsibilities

    The Student Cooperative Program is available for continuous employment throughout the year, while enrolled in school.

    This position is being advertised at the Administrative Band level. The base salary range for this position is $14.62-$17.61/hour. Locality Pay is authorized.

    Sophomore $14.62 per hour plus locality pay
    Junior/Senior $15.54 per hour plus locality pay
    Graduate or Law Student $17.61 per hour plus locality pay

    The student cooperative performs specialized duties with continuing responsibility for projects, questions, or issues that arise in the area of assignment/curriculum. Each assignment typically consists of a series of related actions or decisions prior to final completion.

    • Addresses a wide variety of problems or situations common to the segment of the program or function to which the employee is assigned. Decisions or recommendations are based on the development and evaluation of information that comes from various sources.
    • Identifies and studies factors or conditions and determines their interrelationships as appropriate to the defined area of work.
    • Takes or recommends actions that are consistent with the objectives and requirements of the program or functions.
    • Recognizes the dimensions of the problems involved, collects the necessary information, establishes the facts, and takes or recommends action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.
    Through working in RDM, student co-ops can enhance their skills in auditing, data analysis, quantitative and qualitative research, and writing that drives Postal Service change. This opportunity is ideal for those looking to gain experience at the public service and federal level.

    Student co-ops enjoy a healthy work-school balance and continuous employment with the possibility of 10 weekly hours while in school and up to 30 weekly hours when school work load lessens or when not in session. Additionally, co-ops are assigned a mentor and are placed in the RDM New Employees Cohort Academy group to guide them throughout their work.
