    The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for an exciting full-time internship position within its’ Office of Energy Projects for the Summer 2021. The position is located in the New York Regional Office, and the incumbent will serve as an Civil Engineering Trainee in the Commission’s Dam Safety and Inspections Program. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    The mission of the Office of Energy Projects is to facilitate potential benefits to the nation through the review of natural gas and hydropower infrastructure proposals and minimize risks to the public associated with FERC jurisdictional energy infrastructure.     At time of application, applicant must submit proof of current enrollment in a degree-seeking program. If selected, applicant must provide proof of continuing education through either the Summer or Fall 2021 semesters. To meet the definition of a student, applicants must be enrolled at least half-time in a degree-seeking program. 

    These positions are temporary, they may be converted to a full time, career-conditional position. Any conversions to full time  or career-conditional status is neither implied nor guaranteed.

    Major duties include: 

    • Performs support duties such as making mathematical computations and developing chart and graphs, as needed.
    • Assists project engineers in performing one or more of the civil engineering analyses to assess the safety of civil structures associated with hydropower projects.
    • Assists project engineers in performing safety inspections of the hydropower projects.
