    About the Position: Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Pathways Recent Graduates Program. Click here for more information on Pathways program participation. After Program completion, Department of the Army Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position or to a term position (a project-based term of employment lasting between one and four years).

    • Practical knowledge of technical engineering and surveying methods and techniques to perform hydrographic surveys in support of planning, design, construction and maintenance of navigation projects.
    • Plans to efficiently and effectively conduct a variety of hydrographic surveys in diverse coastal marine environments in consideration of weather, sea conditions, tide, type of equipment available, size of vessels, and safe operating conditions.
    • Edits computer electronic field data to assure accuracy by editing soundings, applying tide corrections, reviewing sounding line to template to determine adequate length of survey line.
    • Operates oceanographic survey systems including single-beam, multi beam, side scan sonar, and magnetometers and assuring the accuracy of equipment by performing calibration tests
    • Meet with representatives of other governmental or public interest groups (federal/military/local security, etc.) to research, coordinate and obtain data necessary for surveys pertaining to navigational projects and obtain rights of entry.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) up to 10% may be required.
