Eligibility: Students who will meet the educational requirements at the end of Spring semester 2021 may apply.     Summary

    IT vacancies will be filled under the Department of Labor (DOL) Recent Graduates program in the excepted service. DOL Recent Graduate appointments are one-year appointments. The entire duration of the program constitutes a trial period. Upon successful completion of the program, and at the agency's discretion, appointees may be converted to term or permanent positions in the competitive service. 

    -Vacant positions are inside the bargaining unit.

    Responsibilities

    Vacant positions are located in DOL, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Office of Technology and Survey Processing (OTSP). BLS measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making. OTSP provides IT support to all aspects of BLS data development initiatives.

    Incumbents will receive assignments of a developmental nature intended to promote possible careers in the Federal government. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: training designed to acquaint him/her with the methods and procedures in assigned specialty areas; self-development programs designed to help enlarge his/her knowledge concerning state-of-the-art IT Systems; assisting IT specialists to resolve IT problems using established methods, sequences, and procedures; and assisting senior IT specialists in completing larger projects.

    Occasional travel - Some work may require travel and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.

    12 - Upon successful completion of the Recent Graduate program, and at the agency's discretion, appointees may be converted to term or permanent positions in the competitive service. If converted, promotion potential is the GS-12.
