    Summary

    About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.

    This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Post-Secondary Students and Recent Graduates.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform preliminary and final architect designs.
    • Assist higher level professional personnel by carrying out complete projects of limited scope or narrow aspects of broader projects.
    • Prepare design documents and develop schedule and budget estimates.
    • Projects include designing for and inspections of architectural features of new buildings and facilities, as well as the extension, conversion, or modernization of existing buildings and facilities .
    • Projects encompass a wide variety of highly technical industrial, office, recreational, and military occupancies.
    • Check shop drawings and descriptive literature submitted by contractors.
    • Determine whether the contractor proposed material and equipment is suitable and adequate for the purpose intended.
    • Make field site inspections of existing equipment, construction in progress, and completed projects, and create studies and/or provide observations regarding operation, condition, and evaluations of systems, site, and/or structures.

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel up to 15 percent of the time for this position.
