Responsibilities
The Pathways Internship Program gives Interns the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and the opportunity to foster networking relationships. If you are seeking a diploma/degree and are looking for an opportunity to challenge your teambuilding skills, then this opportunity is for you!
These positions are located in the Dallas Division, Lubbock, TX and Tyler, TX.
As a Student Trainee NTE Intern you will perform:
- General filing, mail handling, and distribution;
- Applies established procedures to sort, code, and file documents;
- Answers and directs phone calls and greets and escorts visitors; and
- Composes general correspondences.

Qualifications
This position is a temporary excepted service appointment, Not To Exceed (NTE) one year with the possibility of extension without further posting. This student position can possibly be extended until the student graduates or is no longer enrolled at which time the position will terminate.Please note that if you are a spring or summer 2019 graduate you will not be eligible for this student appointment unless you are enrolled at a qualifying educational institution seeking an additional degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) or an advanced degree. You also must submit proof of acceptance along with you current transcripts for consideration.
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Additional information on the qualification requirements is outlined in the OPM Qualifications Standards Handbook of General Schedule Positions. It is available for your review in our office, in other Federal agency personnel offices, and on OPM’s web site.
Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) throughout their appointment to remain in the program.
You must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree program or qualified certificate program with a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0. All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
At the GS-1 grade level you must either be currently enrolled in High School or a GED program or post high school study.
At the GS-2 grade level you must either have successfully completed a high school diploma or equivalent or will have successfully completed a high school diploma or equivalent within 9 months from the closing date.
At the GS-3 grade level you must either have successfully completed one full year of post-high school study or will have successfully completed one full year of post-high school study within 9 months from the closing date of this announcement.
At the GS-4 grade level you must either have successfully completed an Associate’s degree or two full academic years of post-high school study or will have successfully completed an Associate’s degree or two full academic years of post-high school study within 9 months from the closing date of this announcement.
At the GS-5 grade level you must either have a 4 academic course years of post-high school leading to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree, 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4 level work, or a combination of education and experience.

You must be currently accepted for enrollment OR are you currently enrolled in a qualifying educational institution (a public high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body; a private school that provides secondary education as determined under State law, a home school that is allowed to operate in a State; any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education: technical or vocational school; a 2-year or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g. law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum), on a full or half-time basis? Educational enrollment MUST be on a half-time or full-time basis. Half-time basis is defined by the academic institution that the student is enrolled or accepted into.
